The Ballad of a Bee's Demise

The Ballad of a Bee's Demise

A Poem by John Stussy
"

Collaboration poem with FoolsGold23, me as the fellow, her as the bee

"

Oh glass of sweet lemonade,
Waiting for me so patiently,
I'll enjoy you soon enough,
Once this patio is swept clean.
The perfect reward for me
For a good day of solid toil.

Bumbly tumbly comes the bee,
Oh LOOKS! a cup of something sweets?
See! tis a glass of sugared wetness!
And all alone, someone's left it!
Happily I'll take a sip, but look!
tis guarded by an unseemly crook!

Gasp! An enemy approaches me!
One of you unsightly wretches again?
Come to attack unprovoked once more?
Begone from my prize, have at ye!
This flyswatter will do the trick,
I'll rid the world of one more bee.

ABUZZ!! I come, defend ye drink!
My taste is for thy frigid sweets!
Prep your swatter, Stingers UP!
We'll see who triumphs for this lovely cup!
Don't care if you've done nothing wrong,
that Lemony goodness is mine, begone!

Take that, and that, you vile thing.
I'll show you what for, come hither
And I'll give you a good wallop 'twixt the wings!
A fight to the death for my lemonade,
I'l toast to your minute corpse
Hidden somewhere on my lawn.

I take, I take, and still no shot lands
ye bungler with swatter, use your hands!
I dodge, I weave, oh so seamlessly,
your growls are comical, Can't you best a Bee?
SWOOP in, dodge out, watch you duck and swipe,
your drink shall you soon surrender, And I'll run you inside!

Why fly you so high, afraid of my wrath?
Come closer, come lower, I'll give you fear.
I'll send you a-spinnin' through the air,
Unsure of up, down, and where my drink lies.
Hold fast for a second infernal insect,
It won't be too painful... I think.

I tire of this, you're losing ground,
this realm of air is my own battle ground.
you puny swatter upon the land,
y'wish a shot of yours would land,
tsk tsk I end this this now,
Where to sting you is the choice now.

Time to take a leap and try
To invade your airy realm to strike.
Brace yourself opponent o' mine,
For here comes my swatter to you,
This ends this moment with this swing,
Aha! Connection! Going, going, gone!

OH, curses!! A broken thorax, I die!
This sailing descent is my final flight,
Not one chance of ressurrections,
And as I see you dance in jubilation,
I curse you, long legs, and your sweet sips too!
I do so hope you chokes on an ice cube!!

Oh happy day, the battle is mine!
I celebrate now with my wonderful drink.

This piece is a spectrum of pentameter in poet's rhyme like days of yore,
when David took the pen for The Psalms- with a touch of laughter like
emitted from Children's riddles, insects' giggles, lovely lemonade,
and of course, who could not appreciate such a wonderful thing as a bee,
queen Apidae of flowers and trees.

Haha, I laughed! Both the perspectives made for a great read. I loved the way they talked; all the ye's and thy's.
