The sad realisation that love is over....

Now I understand the words you said to me

I’ve read between the lines the hidden meaning to see

That you were trying to say goodbye the kindest way you could

Speaking it in a way you thought I understood

 

But all I could do was to cry those tears

As my world fell apart around my ears

The meaning sank in behind the words you spoke

That you’d soon be leaving which was no joke

 

My heart broke into little pieces, scattering everywhere

I hide myself away now pretending I don’t care

The pain and the hurt will take a long time to heal

Before love again my heart can steal

 

So goodbye and be on your way

I couldn’t keep you another day

You broke my heart when you thought you were doing good

And I’d put it back together again, if only I could
