What Have You Done?

What Have You Done?

A Poem by Sue
"

The emotions I felt at seeing a rubbish filled countryside....

"

What have you done to my beautiful world

Once so vibrant and so green

You’ve filled it with pollution

And all that is obscene

What happened to the rolling lands

The rivers full of life

Now oil-slicked and littered

Due to a nation’s strife

Where are the birds that sing

The animals so free

No longer walk the earthy ground

Or sit upon the tree

My soul aches for all that’s gone

And longingly it searches

For some forgotten plot of grass

Away from mad researchers

Perhaps I’ll find it one day

Untouched by human hand

Before we see a desert

And nothing left but sand…

Excellent poetry. I just don't know what's wrong with mankind that he would destroy all that's beautiful and good. He may as well saw off the limb upon which he sits.

Thank you Samuel - it saddens me to see such waste when we are capable of so much good
I love this one, Sue! I love the countryside and all things conservation and this really hits home, humans eh!!

I know makes me sad :(
Me too! Everyday, on my way to work, I see these rubbish-filled surburbs.
Very thought-provoking.

Really enjoyed readying this!
