Marilyn

Marilyn

A Poem by Summer Grace

Blonde hair and
Laughing eyes
You had it all, you were it all
Your death was a surprise

Remote and faraway
That’s what you are
They say, staring at
Us from a billboard on the highway

Your faraway laughing
Eyes in pictures they
Hypnotize us with
Your man made mystery

Smiling your way
Through our weary
Day always on the calendar on the wall
As if to say, it’s alright and okay

Lost in the miles
From Los Angeles
To us was your real
Being now lost to death

Vulnerable, innocent
The world never saw
What you could be
Tragically it never
Saw you were only
Surprisingly human
As we all can be
