Landing

Landing

A Poem by Jessica Cowan

A water falls from the clouds for the first time in weeks.

I feel it on my skin, on my hands and my knees.

I'm so sad that you stole my peace.

Brokenness replaces shy smiling faces.

Echoes flit across the emptying spaces.

Regret and resentment slither just the same,

Shooting images out, an endless pain.

We climb through jungles on fire with disdain.

Oh, dear lover, how things have changed.

The sun lingers, undone and so plain.

It's warmth seems to only outline my frame.

This exchange has out grown and over flown,

Our desires no longer clearly known.

What is, what has been, what will be shown?

Undeniable pitter patter invading our home.

Well the flash and the fade, the flying or falling,

It's like a cavalcade of a new day dawning.

So cradle the riot, bequeathing your gentlest smiles.

Surpass the loudest quiet, emanating for miles.

Oh, dear lover, these are our landing trials.
