This World

This World

A Poem by Susanna F
"

Written on a particularly hopeless day.

"

What I have seen of this world

Is but strife wrapped in injustice

The powerful corrupt -

The majority reasonless.

As a species we seem hopeless

Repeating the same flawed systems

Unbalanced and corruptible

Amidst chaos, our own fruitage.

Each bastion of light darkens

Schisms divide and we fall

Greece, Rome, Britain and America

Ideals shadowed by ineptitude

And murdered by a thousand betrayals.

A really powerful reading

Well done, Susanna.
(catharticism) to get this one out.
I also see these very things.
My only consolation being that there must be some purpose for it all but I can't imagine what. :)

Interesting... I like the smiles and metaphors. The feeling behind it is well done too. I can almost fees.l a sense of betrayal from this line 'murdered by a thousand betrayals.'
