A Poem by Susanna F

By a trick of the moonlight it seemed

You were nearer the sky than the earth

As the pale silver ‘round you gleamed

I shared the laughter of your mirth.

When it seemed your attention had strayed

Again our eyes met and held

For my boldness a price would be paid

But the hope in me would not be quelled.

As the night scattered stars all above

Autumn air moving cold in the trees

You trembled and told me of your love

And my heart was at last put at ease.
