The Oak Tree

The Oak Tree

A Poem by sushi

Miles I traveled at light speed
leaving behind my past
into a chat funny and sweet.

Things make no sense
still we continue
a travel with no destiny
to live till the night dissolves
   into the day light of hope.

It's a special day
missing few old friends
who lost their way through the hills.
We, who made it alive
into a new year
growing a year older;
A reason enough to celebrate I guess.

Birds gathered on the oak tree
singing wishes
wrapping the tree with stars;
Thousand lights shining bright
wishing the birth of happiness.

You connect life and the choices we make to a journey through open hills in which we can see passed and a little ahead of each decision but we still need to walk the way we choose . . . I believe that exemplifies the fluidity of our choices and the freedom of them in life, and the sheer abundance of them, even though we only choose to go straight, there's still the minor angles to choose that add up to significant changes later. And I am fascinated that you choose to mention those lost in the hills as well, whether it means death or a hard spot in life (although I assume the latter) it is still a clever concept to utilize for this poem.

well done, sushi, keep it up!

I feel like this could be about New Years' or a reunion possibly? Either way, it tells the story of leaving behind your past and journeying through life as best as possible. I feel like there are a lot of new beginnings in this poem. Very nice!

The picture of the decorated tree is very beautiful. Travel with no destiny is my favorite line . :)
