Reason and Madness

Reason and Madness

A Poem by Lumière Déclinante

Reason and Madness went for a walk in the dark,

Searching for meaning, for light.

Feeling along jagged walls, rough floorboards,

Not knowing their lefts from their rights.

"Madness" said Reason "we cannot give up.

I no we'll find the exit soon."

And this is how they spent many years.

Lost, searching in this dark room.

Until one day, Madness gave in with a sigh

and said "Reason, this searching is wrong.

Why bother looking for a doorway to light

When this candles been burning all along?"

Author's Note

Lumière Déclinante
I was inspired by a line in the Michael Grant book 'Fear'. I think this shows how sometimes, life is easier with a lost mind.

Ooohh i really love this write of yours. The meaning is very clear. And actually, i gotta agree with you. Sometimes life is easier with a lost mind.. If only life could be simple right? But there's so many lessons! This was very unique, creative, and just full proof awesome-ness! I love the reason and madness talking to each other. =) Thank you for this! I enjoyed the read. Another spectacular write!!!

I really like this one. Seems as though madness is better that reason. I like the message, and the rhythm and rhyme was wonderful. Great piece.
