Exhaustion

Exhaustion

A Poem by Norma M Sutton
"

or the Edge of Insanity

"
Sixteen hours with little sleep
My mind is dim, my body weak
With foggy eyes I watch the world
Sixteen hours with little sleep

Sixteen hours stretched into days
I live life in a drawn out haze
I watch the world with a weary gaze
Sixteen hours stretched into days

Sixteen days, how many more
Will I be forced to endure
Will it come or go I wonder
Sixteen days, how many more

Before sometime becomes next year
Sleep so close draw me near
Close my eyes and let me rest
Before sometime becomes next year

I enjoyed this poem! It was well constructed and depending on how you think, it could mean many different things. Is there a significants to the number 16? Has any thing like this ahppened to you?

Sixteen days with no sleep. Must be some strong coffee. I had days with little sleep. Bodies feel slow and hard to know wrong from right. I like this poem. The emotion was powerful in the words of the need to rest. A excellent poem.

You could be a doctor, or a nurse,
or working double shifts at shift change.

This is a fun style, fluid, lilting like a
song. Nice.

Hope you get a good eight hours after
this , Norma.

Exquisite poem, very well written.
