Childhood Innocence

Childhood Innocence

A Poem by Sydney Rachel
"

We all wish at times that we could return to the simplicity of childhood. But with aging comes knowledge, and with knowledge comes responsibility.

"

Remember when getting
High
Meant reaching
New heights
On the swingset?
Remember when
Drinking and driving
Meant having an
Iced Tea
At a stoplight?
Remember when the
Worst words
You could say were
Shut up?
Remember when being
Hot
Meant it was

Summertime?
Remember when
Fear, grief, and death
Were foreign concepts?
Remember when being a
Big kid
Seemed so glamorous?
Innocence
Is sacred
Not to be wasted
But is only pure in
Childhood.

I love this! I really do miss being a kid sometimes. It was so much simpler and the world seemed so magical. I wish it still did. :( Great poem! ^-^
