YouA Poem by tatteredtigress"Never regret thy fall, O Icarus of the fearless flight For the greatest tragedy of them all Is never to feel the burning light."It was a strange city for us both It was a strange friendship too What started out as a spark of starlight Turned into a galaxy Who can ever forget their first love? I thought I knew passion and desire They are red and hot to the touch But with just one touch You burned me to a crisp Who could hope to burn brighter than the sun? Somehow I believed love could fade But you showed me what it can do Grow stronger with each passing day An hour spent left me longing for more A night left me longing for a lifetime In this world of doubt and fear Who can say no to a drop of hope? Once upon a time I believed myself immune To jealousy, what a naive fool Ugly green jealousy stalked up to me And showed me just how immune I am For you, however I could fight a million battles with that monster Who can rest while their soul bleeds? Tonight you turned away from me I cross my fingers Promise myself to turn away too Not even for a second Do I believe myself Who can turn away from Paradise? © 2016 tatteredtigressAuthor's Note
