we'll be okay

we'll be okay

A Poem by Hey Hey Renee

we were
red nail polish
cracking under
pressure.
we were
the peeling paint
of the walls;
the shifting
foundation.
we were once the
knuckles
popping loose
from sagging
skin. the
crinkles
under her eyes, the
edges of the
laugh lines.

we were
everything;
the dirty glasses
stained with
lemonade
and the shattered
bowls of summer
cantaloupe.
we were once
the smooth
iridescent skin
of the rattler,
and the
oil on the
highway after
a rainy night.

we were
invincible
until we shattered;
and he told me
to be
fine.

Thank you so much!
This is amazing poetry. I love the use of the language.
"we were
everything;

stained with
lemonade
and the shattered
bowls of summer
cantaloupe."
Interesting visions create by strong description. The closing paragraph is fact. When we learn we are not invincible. We become human. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
