**OUTSIDE** Heavy snow. Below freezing temperatures. Overcast skies. Icy roads. Dangling icicles form on trees and telephone lines. People walking in open-air bundled in winter coats and wool caps. The falling snow is visible to the light of day as it covers the city streets and parked vehicles. The dimly-lit heavens disappear into darkness. The reign of a cold harsh wind arrives and lasts into the late night hours...**INSIDE** You and I under the blankets, together, close to the fireplace. I feel you falling asleep in my arms. A restful place. I will be joining you soon. The quiet of the house has put us in a mood of slumber. I stare into the flames listening to the crackling sound of burning wood. The distinct smell of embers fill the air. The remaining hours of the night pass by unnoticed... Now, it is only hours before dawn. Outside it is calm and cold. Everything still. Inside I'm in a place between sleep and awake. Sheltered from the outer world. Safe and sound. Under the protection of God and love... and a warm fire
The way you can use your words, is just outstanding.
Creative and imaginative, simple yet extravagant, romantic yet reserved.
I loved every line of this!
So just where were you last night with heavy snow and below freezing temperature ~ already traveling for the upcoming holidays? You know that we’re not expecting snow again until maybe next weekend. LOL
KC, this is a fantastic write ~ filled with much Romanticism, Passion, Love & Fulfillment.
Your words had me right there peeking in on the scene as I could easily hear the crackling of the wood in the fireplace and smell the embers in the air as you so tenderly shared this one with us ~ well done my friend. I truly “enjoyed” this one.
Please take care & stay warm wrapped in that blanket of Love.
