LOST IN STARS

LOST IN STARS

A Story by KCthelastboyscout
"

A dream I have taken too much time to analyze

"
Upon a night sky, I chose you for being the brightest star. Wherever you can be seen, I travel in your direction. When you disappear behind the reign of the sun, I stop and rest until the day becomes night again.Even beyond the heavens, your glow radiates so brightly, it could be seen from the furthest corner of the earth. So many miles I followed your light until one night, you were gone. What happened? Why did you go away? I had no answer to my questions. No direction to go. Enough time passed until I accepted my own reasonable truth. Your light shined so bright, for so long, you eventually burnt out. Now you are gone, lost among the other stars. I become disillusioned of what my purpose was all along.Alone,in an unfamiliar place, I am stranded. Every night, i look at all the indistinguishable stars in the sky. Now I have a new purpose...Waiting for your return.

Metaphor, yeah.
"My love is like a star." Simile.
"My love is a star." Metaphor. Got it.
Where I stop getting it is when the star no longer behaves like a star so it can conveniently behave like an angst driven adolescent human. The stars I've seen aren't that flexible. Maybe, "My love is a stray cat."

I love metaphorical stories and poetry! Being I can almost create a meaning for it. The story I got from it is a person is no longer acting the same, although you wish they were. May be so different from what you meant it but it was an enjoyable read. Thank you for sharing.

the stars are a great metaphor always one is the one that shine the brightest ,,,,, and we love that star then like a human who passes away or disappears from our life.. the star does not shine any more a huge sadness but it does look from your newest poem that you have found a love and a new star
some people never find another light in their life

I love your use of words in this piece.
As a suggestion, I would have put this into a different format, giving it more effect on the reader.
Keep writing!

Searching ~ always searching ... we sometimes lose ourselves in search of something thats elusive but we keep following the signs.

KC, many readers will connect with this piece as your words bring a bit of hope and inspiration to those still searching/waiting.

My friend, you always leave your heartprint in whatever you share with us and I look forward to reading more from you.

Take care and have a great day.

This was really good, I loved it and I got emotional. I don't know if it was intended to be sad but to me it was.

KC, perfect metaphor for so many important things, chiefly love. The power punch is "Now I have a new purpose...Waiting for your return." So, true. Don't we so often decide to linger in the shadows, hoping that lost person or thing will return. It fills us, at least for a while, with hope, but denies the opportunity to discover a new purpose, a new love, career, faith, etc. Again nice piece from you.
