CHAMELEON

CHAMELEON

A Poem by KCthelastboyscout
"

losing your old self and finding something new

"
Look fast
Don't blink
Look again
Too late
...I'm gone
Now I'm someone else
Same face. Different me
This is how I protect myself now
Especially from you...

I allowed you to see all the old sides of me
Weak and vulnerable
People that I love and people I never knew have taken advantage of my kindness and generosity
You made promises and broke every one of them
You were my miracle, my happy ending
Now what's left of me are ashes blown away

This is a confusing time for you
But it's no longer my concern
Now there are new shades of color that protect my outer shell
CALLOUS INDIFFERENT UNSYMPATHETIC EMOTIONLESS
Let me give you closure
Stop looking for me
What I am now, you will never recognize
I have already blended into new surroundings
Gone from sight
Gone from mind

This is from a woman's point of view so I tried to collaborate for this story, but couldn't find any takers. So I did the best I could

This is very good! Its speaks to me and experiences I have had in my past.
When your young you get lost in the fairy tale of what life and love should be like.
But then reality hits you, and sometimes you learn your best lessons from your pain.

Your point of view is generous and understanding of her disappointment and resentment. A woman would lament for the loss of your friendship and failed attempts on both sides to make a relationship work as well.

i thought it is written based on true experience. but from a woman's point of view, it will be difficult to jump from emotional to emotionless, even when there is anger or even angst, a woman will always be prepared to forgive no matter how hurting it was.

Young people are always remarking themselves after a breakup. New hair, music, movie choices... The never endless search to find who they are in the confines of a relationship.
You have captured that. The young adult not quite a woman.(works the same for men) looking for that treasure of love. While hiding from failed love.
