THE LOST ONES

THE LOST ONES

A Poem by KCthelastboyscout
"

Somewhere, on the road of life, some of us got lost

"
I am part of a community
We are strangers, but connected
Larger than imagined
Larger than expected
We are the mentally ill, drug addicts, the socially awkward and a certain few who are undiagnosed
Somewhere between adolescence and adulthood, we fell out of the line of best intentions and were left behind to fend for ourselves
We failed...

Now, the ones left remaining, search for a place of tranquility
There are daily battles with our inner demons for control of our minds and souls
There are victories and defeats
For some, there are good samaritans along the way who direct them back on the right path
But the prayers of the lost ones are never answered
Consumed by darkness... for all our days to come

I feel like I was late for a class that tells you how to manage your life. I'm not allowed in because the door locked

I would venture there are millions who could relate personally to this piece, myself among their number. I've lost life long friends to addiction and overdose. I've reached out for some hovering at the edge and seen others slip away silently without a hand to hold. Every life is precious and beautiful if we could only touch with our souls and feel with our hearts and understand with our minds that there is no monopoly on pain. We all suffer in this life and if we desire to continue here we should be careful in our response, both to our own suffering and the suffering of others. Thank you for sharing this piece. Blessings of peace and light.

Your touching words are filled with pain and pathos KC. Yes, The Lost Ones...the “expendable population” falling into every crack. More and more and younger and younger each day. Sad the lack of safety nets and services- a stitch in time...guess somebody thinks it’s not a priority. Somebody thinks??...Somebody thinks not. Your heart-felt words must be heard my friend. Praying for a light in the darkness for all of us...

I worked in the mental health field for many years. It is indeed a struggle for those with mental illness. Some will always be badly challenged, but I knew others who persevered and were able to live rewarding lives. The degree of illness and the degree of individual determination are both vital factors.

We all feel this way sometimes, these classes are overrated any way ... they are not going to teach you anything great that you haven't already known! You can always find the best moral examples by reading some of the best humans in the history of humanity, and then there is this inner voice of yours, which is the best guiding force !
