Speak of the Devil

Speak of the Devil

A Poem by duff

My crow shall remain perched outside your window for 24 hrs

During this time of immortality I encourage you to employ pain

I sense your nihilism so I ask that you close thy eyes and oblige

Charon to illuminate cells of your isolation that kept you a slave

Together we can revisit those years you spent alone in the dark

The permission has been granted to lick buried wounds my child

It’s crucial they realize the treachery they have bestowed on you

The powers I possess will assist you in the opera of prosecution

Summon the forgotten angels and cast them into shadows play

From hell they creep with talons drawn ready to scalp the wicked

Now take my hand as a god and control the table of guilty crowns

Noir black with a deeply cynical and manipulative theme as control is exerted and the victim massaged into doing the bidding of the protagonist duff. You use very stark and frightening images to go with this one. Crows are of course symbols of evil as is dark and evil you have portrayed.

Thank you John. I really like your review. It's exactly what I was going for.
Sinister grooming of a postulant Black Queen, filled with dark imagery and intent. Beautifully written, summoning ageless powers "From hell they creep with talons drawn ready to scalp the wicked"...Noir Beauty and The Beast? Retribution on the move..Great!

Thank you Annette! Probably my darkest piece so I'm glad you enjoyed it. Retribution indeed:)
Charon,( Pluto's only known satellite) is supposed to be mysteriously 'good' in modern mythology. The other Charon does a good job too, carrying Souls across the Styx. Your Charon is a bit more obscure. He is going to 'illuminate cells of your isolation that kept you a slave.' and 'assist you in the opera of prosecution.' Yes, I think he too is going to do a good job! The poem is a bit scary, but I enjoyed it! We have to face up to our 'shadows' and see that justice is done, albeit, 'with talons drawn ready to scalp the wicked'. I think this is a jolly good poem! ( even in bold)

Oh yeah - I am with Silente on all counts - love your work and can feel the beat of the eternal earth keeping pace - great descriptions - just don't like the bold - hurts my eyes man - how am I supposed to tap along with my eyes squinting like I am in some kinda sandstorm?

Haha, that's awesome.
I suppose when we decide to play with fire, or maybe when we stop deciding to be in the light of goodness for whatever reason then it will come in no half-measure.
This struck as perhaps the wording of the deal that Robert Johnson made at those fateful crossroads - and hence going on to scalp all his contemporaries in the guitar realm.

excellent evocative piece duff.

thats very nice of you to say - thank you and welcome
This is very much my type of poetry, and with style you did deliver... My one qualm is I suck at reading bold words, but that is just me... Otherwise... Wicked nihilism, and operas of shadow play atop taloned scalps of guilty crowns... Man... This was friggin' good...

If only the wicked could be swept away, huh? We'd all be better for it.

Wow, great work, this is mostly a subject that is hard to write about, but you did it perfectly. It gives me a dark and sinister feeling, and I love that :P well done!
