Making Sense

Making Sense

A Poem by Sara Henry Heistand
"

Not a lot of effort.

"

Surprised and scandalized

she saw the sun set between her ribs

            battered brain

            battered childhood

that’s all it took to explain

and they whisked her

and they chilled her

til limbs fell away

and the believers had a field day

            and the normalcy began

but that made sense

and what was tense

was clearly a state of opinion.

It flows so beautifully. The layout of the text is fantastic as well. I can't find a fault in it whatsoever.
