Leaving whispers and stories
The sound of raindrops can be heard
But it's not raining outside

Roll over at night, empty space
Morning coffee, empty chairs
Walking through town, empty hand
Standing here again, empty heart

Love has left town again
Leaving shadows and ice
The sound of love can still be heard
But suddenly it's so far away

Stopped by this one because I loved the title. You captured something good with your words, the repetition of "empty" makes us feel the weight of the loss, the loneliness. A powerful piece, thank you for sharing!

Empty is the worst state, because there is no directly connected emotion. Emptiness is like a bait thrown out to see what bites and then you reel it in. Jealousy, vengeance, self loathing, longing and so many other attributed emotions are then spiced up and cooked on a burning soul. There is only one thing worse than empty, invisibility, and when those two go together it is like enriching uranium. Something is going to get neuked.

lovely piece. You capture the mood of lost love perfectly and present it gently I really like this approach so much more than the angry lost love stuff I see on WC so often. this is a very tender way to deal and think of this. I love the way you presented it. Very Nice Write!

haha... yes but how nice when anger is a phase rather than a mode... the healthy person moves through anger to the next phase of grief over the loss, the sick person gets into the anger and can't get out. so I don't mind seeing a few angry pieces but I love to see the acceptance and growth pieces... Like this gem you have here... Well done my friend.

You are very true with your words, I even today have never stopped loving those that left me, they left that love,that warmth, inside that I cling to on winters nights. How can I be angry for that blessing. A terrible journey is still a journey and I would always choose to be a flowing river as I do not want to grow stale. Bring the pain and anger as only then can I know and appreciate the joy and happiness. For without the darkness that surrounds them the stars could not shine. Thank you Nicholas.
