Letter to God

Letter to God

A Poem by theking
"

A man is dying on a battlefield, and this is his last plea to god to save him

"

God almighty I pray to you

Your loving kingdom in the blue

I lie here on the battlefield

My life I do not want to yield

Let me live to see the next day

For all I see right now is gray

The blood soaked ground presses on me

Patriotism has its fee

Devoted I have always been

This blood I reap pray not be sin

I do not want to do this deed

Yet I must to preserve our creed

My crimes are few, this war unjust

Devouring my blade is rust

I do not care, I weep alone

The souls I take leave with my own

Bodies surround my horrid grave

Ghastly ghosts cry “my life please save”

In ascension they climb alone

As is stated in Gods great tome

The ember of my life does fade

I feel eternal deaths great blade

My lord, I beg you save my spark

Don’t leave me in this awful dark

Okay, this was great. I loved how you wrote this. The words just flowed together so perfectly. Even though there wasn't much details about the surroundings and all, I could easily picture the scene playing out in my head. This is hot to be one of the best poems I've read on the Cafe by far. Wonderful job. :)

Oh...I am in tears, here.
You made me shiver...
