futile pen

futile pen

A Poem by m.s.early

confounding thoughts distilled and weighted
you steal my sleep! be gone! deflated!
should I pen this deprivation?
where is my quill for such occasion?
write you damn obstinate tool!
why do you force this late night duel?
'tween  you, this pen, this creasing palm,
my mind-wind stirs, has yet to calm!
there is morning through window dim.
too soon! too soon! (this futile pen)
is unable to reach my recessed mind.
this block it knows no respect for time!

"futile pen"
m.s.early,
I see a driving force which cannot be denied despite the late hour. Inner soul need does not always care if it is morning, afternoon or night. Life process of growth is so strong and your heart and soul are connected. We are all complex and just always learning. You have a desire to bring forth truth from your experiences unique to you. Your voice as a writer is important. I think that we all process in some way creatively. Writing is such a wonderful way to process. I hope you can work through future times of frozeness. ..."this block it knows no respect for time!" I wanted to tell you I have been up late at times trying to make sense of what was wanting to come forth from within also.
Blessings,
Kathy

Whew! Excellent usage of a difficult sort of punctuation to use effectively! Generally, the exclamation is misplaced and often overused, but in this case, you use it skillfully!

insomnia, racing thoughts...pen can't keep up with the storm...reminds me of a manic night but articulated with structure. this is elegantly penned.
