the galleries of our minds

the galleries of our minds

A Poem by m.s.early

Then she asked, "Do you really want to know?"
Know...
And in the stillness of that moment I thought the word aloud
Know...
Considering the fallacy of reality,
I internalized the conception of existence;
It's an image in my mind.

When she sees  me, she turns her lovely eyes my way,
And I give myself to her completely once they meet,
But she only retains what she thinks she sees,
What she thinks she knows.

"Do you really want to know?" She asked.
She was about to divulge,
Deliver herself in words,
To enlighten me on the innerness of her "being".

The knowledge was ever present
I would only be aware of my perception
The context of her diction
In what it would describe,
And herself would exist in two pictures
hung in the galleries of our minds.

You are so right. There is a big difference between perception and knowing and especially knowing intimately. Two different pictures with different pixels...Excellent...:)...........

Life as people are filled with layers .You see different aspects of them the deeper you go :)

This is beautiful X. It is why I write under a pen name and usually have an avatar that is soulful...thought provoking. They are beautiful and I am just average but with a great deal to offer. Average old married ladies get to go to the back of the line or are looked over often. I have always wondered why they are deemed less when they know and have lived so much. We always know more than we say and are usually gentler if we do. Many of us here have good gifts. Many of us here are beautiful like our words, expressions,....like our avatars. I hang them all in my gallery pure, exceptional,&supreme! (even when....I know) Ty for the journey..another to add to the library:)

Deep and profound this one xavier, there seems many layers to your read, like an onion peeled back needed to be examined one by one. As always a stellar write from your pen!

I love this...."considering the fallacy of reality and I internalized the conception of existence"...beautiful phrases that flow together like dancers in a ballet. Beautiful, Xavier. I like the concept behind this poem as well. Great writing.

Wow,
"The galleries of my mind" You have used a wide range of models to bring home this attractive piece,
The two characters, was enclosed in a world inside a world. I sense there are some high expectations on one part..

Thank you for reading Ahena :)
Yes...we never truly know someone. Either their thoughts or their experiences. Much like an artists rendering they are subject to our own perception of them. We paint what we "see" and hang it in our minds gallery but it may be nothing like the painting that hangs in their own mind.

Fantastic poem!
