she asked if i'd love her

she asked if i'd love her

A Poem by m.s.early

She asked me if I'd love her
Even if the whole city burned
And I replied I will love you
While the heat tortures the
Melting air in the cramped subway trains

I will scream for you
While my flesh falls like wax
Into the burn barrels beneath the overpass
And I will dip my lips
In the runoff to quench the dryness
Of my life

I will meet you on the corners
Within the smoke
And cover myself in the ashes
Until you need ask no more

This isn't sharing, this is wholesale giving, nothing barred, this feeds another from one second to another, endlessly, completely. Seems you excel in removing the skin formed top of passion and let the air take what it wants from it.. BUT, only if it cloaks, frames, absorbs that one single, solitary, beloved other.

I'd even give everything, anything, says he..
' .. ' cover myself in the ashes - until you need ask no more.. '

You're very kind
Ah ...i think the girl need not ask for if she finds a lover who speaks to her and loves her this way....
We ladies are always in doubt... if our love loves us.... I guess if it's the correct guy we would never have to wonder if we are loved...

I enjoyed reading this one a lot ..:)

to be loved so fiercely .....to be wanted so intensely....mmmmm....fire for the soul. Your passion is one of your most alluring qualities dear poet.

i just love this poem...i felt the heat, the sensual nature of it...but also that commitment to burn together...to cover himself with her ashes...and dance on the corners of life until they are both overcome with the smoke...
such vivid images burned through my mind here.
thanks for this poetry.
