Dinner at the Patel's

As the offspring of immigrants

who arrived in this country

on nothing

but empty stomachs
and watered down hope

to appease the hunger,
failure is not an option.

Everything sits on the table.

 

Tonight,

daal and roti;

hopes and dreams.
