Friend?

Friend?

A Poem by *joy*

My very best friend
I thought it was you
I think you’ve forgotten what best friends might do
Sometimes they make or return a phone call
Maybe make them some time- when there is no time at all
You say that your busy
And friend, I am too
But I would create that time just for you

My friend from the past
Did your memories die
I feel like you’ve let most all of ours fly
Don’t make believe, and say I'm still part of your world
Because now I know better- I’ve become just a girl
You say that you’ve changed
And I agree with you
But change among friends should be exciting and new

My very best friend
Acceptance is best
I think you’ve decided that my life failed your test
I’ve made my own path- it’s my own rocky road
I don’t feel you approved, and you just let go
You say that we’ve grown
And yes, that’s a start
But together we’ve grown too far apart

What should I do, my very best friend
I’ve tried and I’ve tried- I’ve tried to pretend
But I’m tired of fighting a battle of two
A battle, my friend, that is revolving around you
Should I give up and throw the towel in the air
To me it’s no option
It can be repaired
I guess that I’ll wait till you find me again
I'll still be waiting my very best friend

This is so very beautifully written and unique. It holds such a strong yet lost meaning. I understand your words very deeply... Truly amazing

This poem hits very close to home. I had become very judgmental towards a friend and what she was doing. Luckily though I had changed my attitude and realized just what a wonderful friend I had, what a wonderful friend I do have, and how much I love her. I'm sorry that your friendship went the other way. This poem paints a very vivid picture of that experience and when I read it I feel as though I'm in your shoes because we've all been left behind before. A very emotional piece.

It's hard when someone close to you can't find the time for you anymore. But patience is rewarding. I really liked this piece. Strong emotions and an excellent flow of words. Keep it up =]
