Do not understand

Why the Catholic Church feels

People are going

Out of their way

To destroy it

As an institution.

 

Honestly 

Any organization

Whether it is

The Scouting movement

Local school system

Or minor sport association

Who hides or protects

Pedophiles 

Within their own ranks

Deserves the full brunt

Of whatever fallout occurs.

 

Those

Who bring up "religion"

Into this mess

Do so

For their own personal gain

Caring not

About the damage and suffering

Endured by the victims and their families.

 

This should be 

A time of healing 

And acceptance of guilt

Not pointing an accusative finger

Back at society

Due to your misguided actions.

Sadly

Finding myself

Viewing the leaders of the Catholic hierarchy 

Falling dangerously

Out of date

With modern society

Nor do i have any hope

This will change

In my lifetime.

 

Another wasted opportunity

We will never know

What could have happen.

I am, neither Catholic, nor Christian, but think most people will agree this is a crime which everyone is hurt by.

i think that in this matter religion should have been off the table
though i can see how it can be a must to involve the Church because it is to encourage fairness and instate it
but to be fair
the person should be punished away from media and away from the public
the act should be hated
but there is room always for repentance
I am a believer that the name of the church shouldn't be dragged into all this
to preserve faith

I'm Christian - and have close Catholic friends - most of whom are appalled by the way the Church is handling pedophiles. That is the danger of a hierarchical religion - or at least one that has that much hierarchy - those that are supposed to guide the people should be held to a higher standard - but instead they are given protected status - and that's wrong. Hmm, good points. For me, i think that the church has brought on a bad name for itself now because of all of these crazy cases against it. Now, it has a terrible reputation because of it. Im Catholic/Christian, yet, i do have my doubts these days about how things are handled. They should definitely clean up their act. great piece!
