Soldier Above

Soldier Above

A Poem by Lady Tyke
"

Wrote this during one of my night shifts. I love my job but sometimes it just doesn't feel enough.

"
A clock still ticks to mark his time
As the world continues to grow
His body at peace in a rigid state
Limbs cast in a mortal shadow

We salute farewell to a soldier today
Who fought to keep us here
A man so brave yet tortured so
By the ghosts that now draw near

Today I sat and held his hand
Refusing to let him go
But selfishness could not win out
Over time which had grown old

Our care goes past spare arm or foot
To honour, respect and love
Together we stand an army for them
To remember our soldiers above

It does not sound like an easy moment...I am glad I stumbled upon this today. I miss you here on the Cafe and I hope that life has been kind to you. This sad moment brings memories to mind that are best remembered. Thanks love.

I have to cry at the wording of this piece. There is absolutely no choppiness or break in flow here. It is expressively moving and the words put into perspective the honor of our fallen soldiers. Some I am sad to say have forgotten or no longer care. Thank you for sharing this emotional piece with me, as it has touched my heart.

This is a very moving poem. I liked it very much. This poem comes from the heart.
My late mother nursed wounded soldiers, and I know she would have understood what you were saying.
Keep up the good work, and good luck.

This is such a tough subject matter, but you are absolutely right when you say be have to stand as an army for them. I loved that line! Great write.
