The Old Front Porch

The Old Front Porch

A Poem by Sarah Marie

Rocking chairs and wicker seats

Outline the old front porch;

Chips of paint from boards and panes

Blanket the old front porch"

No better debris than peeled memories

Lie in a pile of dusty snow.

Each etched initial flaunts the fame

Of names and lives from generations ago;

My mind's impressions are weathered and worn,

But so is the family front porch.

So solemn and so powerful. The brevity allows that every word packs its punch, and it all paints a painting of nostalgia and faded memories that now wither and wear away like the porch itself. This is a great poem! Well done!
(and just so you know: WC can't detect dashes (hence the question mark in a black diamond), so you'll have to settle for a hyphen).

my pleasure.
Aha, such rhymes! Enjoyed reading this poetry. You had my attention. "Old Porch" is something that's so connected with writerslife and i guess, it's a very right choice of words that you use here to write this poesy across.

Looking forward to reading your work!
