A short story about two girls and christmas. (Also mistletoe!)

"
Matsuko had no doubts that she was a lesbian.
She had taken many online tests, all of which either said she was lesbian or bisexual.
The only problem is that she has to keep it a secret. Due to her family being super religious, or just plain homophobic. She was never sure.
She also kept it a secret from the entire school, even her best friend.
Talking about boys is kind of awkward for her as she was never into them the way her friend was.

She was styling her brown hair for school. Low pigtails at the back, her main style. Just another day of secrets. She sighed.
As she walked out the door, her best friend came running up to her.
“Hey! Matsuko!” Her friend called out, her bright long blonde hair blowing in the wind as she ran. Her crystal blue eyes were full with excitement as she approached Matsuko.
“Hey, Keiko.” Matsuko greeted, smiling warmly at her friend.
“What? No pick up line?” Keiko asked, showing a look of offense as if she had just been called something nasty.
“Well it is cold...” Matsuko stated looking up at the sky as if it would snow.
“That doesn’t excuse-“ before the blonde could finish her sentence, Matsuko asked, “Want to use me as a blanket?”
Her tone was flirtatious, which made Keiko lightly blush.
“H-Hey! Just cause I reminded you-“ Keiko began to pull a tantrum.
“Should I quieten you down with a kiss?” a light blush was apparent on Matsuko’s face as she said this.
This caused Keiko to become even more flustered.
“y-you’re just kidding...” Keiko stuttered not even sure if her own sentence was true or not.
“Deadly serious.” Matsuko told her then leaned in.
Keiko froze. What should she do? She was her friend. Friends shouldn’t kiss!
Something soft then touched her forehead. It was Matsuko’s lips.
Matsuko pulled away, grinning.
“Oops, I missed. You’re so tiny!” She giggled.
Keiko frowned, absolutely frustrated.
But why? Why was she frustrated? Matsuko only just played a trick on her. Falsely making her think that she was going to steal her first kiss.
“Whatever. Lets just get to school.”
...

During lunch, Matsuko and Keiko ate together.
“Christmas is coming up.” Keiko mentioned.
Matsuko grinned. “Maybe we’ll get under the mistletoe together.”
Keiko was once again flustered.
“Why would you say that?!” she yelled out of frustration.
“Aishiteru, Keiko.” Matsuko told her friend with a light blush on her face.
“Ei!!?? What does that mean??!!” Keiko asked a bit too loudly.
“Nothing.”
Keiko narrowed her eyes in suspicion and said, “I don’t believe you...”
Matsuko didn’t seemed to be spilling the meaning anytime soon so Keiko resorted to just eating her food with a sigh, much to the relief of her friend.

It was finally Christmas!
Well not exactly, it was the school’s Christmas.
Keiko and Matsuko were sat at the table as the couples dance had started.
“Wanna dance?” Matsuko asked.
“It’s a couple’s dance...”
Ignoring that comment, Matsuko said, “We may need a map though.”
Keiko tilted her head in confusion. The dance floor wasn’t THAT big.
“why?”
“Cause I might get lost in your eyes.” Came the response she should have expected by now.
Keiko frowned but said nothing. It will probably only fuel the fire.
“aw, Keiko, don’t be like that.” Matsuko said in her usual flirty tone.
After getting no response, she tried again, “You know you love me.”
Keiko flinched as her face shot up in temperature.
Smirking at the reaction she got, she decided to add, “Hey Keiko.”
Keiko turned to Matsuko, a frown still apparent on her face.
“what?” she asked.
“I probably should of mentioned this earlier, but mistletoe.” Matsuko was looking up at the plant like object with a grin.
Keiko flushed bright red as she done the calculation in her head.
Two people plus mistletoe equals kiss.
Matsuko began to inch forward.
Then eventually... their lips touched.
Both girls closed their eyes, melting into the kiss.

After a while, Matsuko broke the kiss, keeping a hand on Keiko’s cheek.
“Aishiteru, I love you, Keiko.”
“I-I love you too.”
