Momma

Momma

A Poem by Chyenne Wagner

Momma!

I’m graduating this year!

Oh and momma I got my own house!

I’m also working full time.

Oh and the best part,

I did it without you, Momma.

You were too busy running away.

You wanted to be on your own so you dumped me in Ohio.

You left your only kid in a state where she knows nobody.

But,

Hey Momma guess what!

I don’t care anymore.

Because of you I am stubborn and untrusting.

Because of you I expect everyone to run away.

Because of you I decided I want better.

So keep running, momma.

Don’t stop.

I’ll just run the opposite way.

I’ll run to my goals while you run away from them.

I love you.

I do.

I kind of have to since you’re my momma.

But,

I don’t look up to you.

I don’t want to be like you.

I want to work through problems.

Not run from them like you.

So,

Momma keep your distance.

“Love” me from afar.

Sincerely,

Your broken daughter.
