Beloved Timepiece

Beloved Timepiece

A Poem by tmac1124
"

This poem is based on a story that I have been writing.

"

I live for the telling of the time of day,

For the disinterest in the hours in my time away,

For the shaking and the burning of desires gone astray,

I live for the telling of the time of day.

I breathe to the ticking of the clock in my chest,

To the unseen discomfort of a doll in distress,

To the rising of days and the sun as it sets,

I breathe to the ticking of the clock in my chest.

I ache for the children who silently cry,

For the bursting of colors as the sun slowly dies,

For the heart-breaking memories of a loved one’s goodbye,

I ache for the children who silently cry.

I tick for the beating of a terrified boy,

For when his heart has stopped and we both shall die,

For when at last he finds courage to become a man,

For when he realizes time is like castles of sand,

For when he takes what is fragile and helps it to stand,

I tick for the boy who has become a man.

Can you guess who or what the narrator is?
This was an experimental style for me. I attempted to create a working rhyme scheme. Let me know how it works for the narrator. I'll reveal it if you guess but the title is a hint.
