Signing my life away

Swimming in an ocean

Seeing the sun once again

Deep roasted coffee

Sat on my table

Trees standing through age

Birds nested in a small curve

Ballrooms filled with guests

Taking a chance with money

Sorting a life

Or so it seems

Music played in a theater

Soft figures wore worn shoes

Markets shouting numbers

Fruits flying in air 

Another warm hug 

Held the secrets i well kept 

Next to a dimming 

Candle light

The thing I find remarkable about this piece . . . in the midst of some life-changing event (signing of papers), the narrator is capable of noticing the little things like the smell of coffee and birds & trees. Frankly, I'm usually utterly blinded by such situations & I never notice anything. Your poem inspired me to try to stay tuned in, even when circumstances make me feel like I'm drowning. Thank you for that. Your writing, as always, is very graceful & full of imagery which I love.
