A poem for all the Moms on Mother's Day

For the banker,
The endless sponsor, the reluctant financier,
Another Wii game, tank of gas,
Trip to the mall, Spring Break in Panama,
This is for you

For the counselor,
The attentive ear, the broad shoulder,
Another breakup, fight with friends,
Long, comforting embrace, hurts you can’t always erase,
This is for you

For the friend,
The life-long advisor, always-speak-the-truth teller,
Another fork in the road, choices to make,
Midnight, tear-filled call, Mom with everything on the ball,
This is for you

For the motivator,
The eternal cheerleader, the positive high-fiver,
Always lifting up, when life brings us down,
President of our fan club, forgiving of all our flubs,
This is for you

For the mom-to-be,
The plan-to-be-perfect Mom, hope-you-don't-fail-Mom,
Another endless to-do list, prepare-'til you're-blue-in-face-list,
Up all night with worry, tears of joy causing vision to get blurry,
This is for you

For all of you, Moms,
this is for you.
