Pleasure in Pain

Pleasure in Pain

A Poem by Kris Tate

Lay on the table

Pull the shirt up

Hear the buzz

Close eyes

The pain is coming

Black outlines

Ink forced beneath

Skin protesting

Stings

The pleasure is coming

Pain takes away

Thought

Worries

Stress

Leaves only the pleasure

The buzz stops

Sit up

Open eyes

Pull shirt down

The pleasure is gone

Leave an image

Forever etched

To remember

Lines

Pleasure in Pain

this was very interesting for me how people with tatoos perceive this act of receiving the picture that it is more than optics but a deep inner attitude for pain...like if they would feel something for they didn'T feel anything for a long time. well done! I vote for you now. good luck.

This is the best description of getting a tat I have ever read. I haven't gotten one in awhile and this brought back the memory of the exhilaration I had felt. Maybe it's time I start looking for a new design :)

Great writing.

I just read two of your poems that flowed well and I enjoyed them immensely. This is good but I feel as though something is missing. I want to say warmth, but I realize that the idea of warmth missing from this poem is stupid. Well, amongst the pain and the pleasure there somehow [for me] needs to be more humanity.
