The Hardest Season

The Hardest Season

A Poem by Kris Tate

Ghouls and ghosts have vanished
   gone without a trace
Here and there
signs of turkeys take their place
Family comes together
   all happiness and love
But what of us alone
   we just get the shove
Soon the turkey is gone
then the Christmas lights are on
Its lonely its sad
to feel as if you are bad
No one comes wondering
if your yule fire is burning
Then the lights are cut out
and everyone gives a big shout
5, 4, 3, 2, 1
   HAPPY NEW YEAR
And you think
   ...and think
Nine more months to go
   nine more months to blow
Then the hardest Season is here again
