Asleep Beneath Flowers

Asleep Beneath Flowers

A Poem by jonah

We'll draw ourselves in to stillness.

Always like that, even the strangest awe,

after ambling down a shiny railway

beneath the slopes of a splendid blanket

of a rugged, white-grey mountain range.

Someone knows why, and when he does,

when he really does,

he faints at the richness of creeks and canyons

in the melancholic concourse of green.

By next time, an empty cobbled street will be grown

with tulips and lavenders.

Meanwhile, lights from the windows shine brighter and better,

mute in the shadowy warmth of a remote village

that rests silent on the breezy feet of valleys;

Lights that come with a nostalgia about a family diner

and all the heartbreaking details in last confessions and total admiration.

Sometimes, the face of the sharpest, emptiest cry will depart,

making its way far from remembrance of its parents.

It grows unnoticed, it crawls

on anterooms in a forgotten century;

An astonishment on how

age is quick to lay down

under the yawning X-ray of sickness and rot.

Someone knows why

a glass is filled with milk in the morning

and cookies scattered on the floor:

The construction of a toddler's hands in an outsize kitchen.

If ever the superlatives collapse before impressionistic grandeur,

it will be because the end of future

is born under the shimmering curtains of summer slow sails

and if ever a slip of the tongue falls on jubilant diction,

it will be nothing

but a petal whirling in the wind.

I love how it is so descriptive! Very juicy words, I can just imagine that single 'petal whirling in the wind'.
Great job!

This is absolutely breathtaking. I can't seem to explain the way that it made me feel. It was such an intense assessment of contemplation, and it almost seems to say that thinking too much about every occurrence can lead to you enjoying it much less. My favorite line is the "melancholic concourse of green", I just love that description. Keep it up, seriously. I was blown away by this one.

Wow! I could never write like that no matter how much I tried. It is so beautiful and has such amazing flow to it. I can read this poem as many times as I want but I know each time I do, I will still be completely full of awe and amazement!

I still very much enjoyed this poem. Life is definitely full of contemplation. There are no boundaries to one's imagination, only the limits we ourselves place on it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

This is twisted.
One the one hand I see contemplation and on the other hand it's levels.
I might be mistaken but aren't you discussing nature, child labour and the contrast b/w city life and country life?
Whatever this is, it is nothing short of amazing! :)

It must be my brain is really screwed up today or something or maybe your poem is above my level or just really good, but I really liked this, I just don't know what to say. I'll send read requests to my friends to get this some good reviews for you. I do believe (this is for your Note For Reviewers) that contemplation is a good thing, but to much and then you over think things to the max or you get lost in your own head or you get depressed or like you said, you don't find whatever you seek out to find.
