From A Boy

Not actually from a boy, i wrote it in from a boys perspective.

Through day and night

Through night and day

I think about

The words I'll say

I'll tell her calm

And quietly

I'll tell her when

There's no one to see

I'll make sure

To tell her this time

Because I made a promise

That I wouldn't lie

I also promised

To take care of her

To be by her side

And love her forever

She knows I'll be there

But what I don't know

Is how to tell her

And let her know

How do I tell her

Why he lays still in the bed

How do I tell my little sister

That our father is dead.

Each poem I read, I'm amazed how you take big, scary ideas and both make them accessible and at the same time multiply their bigness and scariness in your simple words.


This poem does not suffer from a lack of stanza breaks.
