Alone?

Alone?

A Poem by Tyler Cox

Sitting alone

With no one to talk to

Sitting alone

Listening to others converse

Sitting alone

Alone with only my thoughts

Alone in the room

Familiar faces smile

But I am alone

Thinking, plotting, planning

Eyes to the brim with tears

Sad and depressed, I am alone

No, not any more

I tell myself

No one to talk to

But I am not alone

Thinking, plotting, planning

They are unaware of this

For I am not alone

A voice helps me

Thinking, plotting, planning

One by one silenced

I now have a friend

I am not alone

The character in the poem describes a scenario when he taps to his inner voice as the echoes of him thinking bounce in his being.

I like how the piece transfers from being alone to not being alone. With a feeling behind it that I had as if I was the one in the poem.
