The East and the West

The East and the West

A Poem by D. Pesek

The west side had rugged, mountainous terrain,

Yet the east side was fertile, where clouds loved to rain.

They loved from afar, for they were divided by glen,

So the priest built a bridge, with a simple amen.

I absolutely love the simplicity countered by depth that this poem overflows with! Imaginative and extremely provocative; this piece lets your heart soar so pleasurably.

these lyrics reminded me of your poem:

When sister Laurie says, "Amen"
We won't hear anything
The ten-car trains will take that word
That fledgling bird

Brilliant. Brilliant metaphor, brilliant symbolism, again brilliant structure and rhyme.

It's hard to give you constructive criticism on this one.

I loved this - marriage as the simple answer to two people apart from each other, but deeply in love. :]
