Cache-cache avec la lune / Hide and seek with the moon

Cache-cache avec la lune  /   Hide and seek with the moon

Je vois la lune au lointain

Jouer à cache-cache jusqu’au matin

Quand le soleil à son réveil

Renvoi la lune à son sommeil.

Et là perché sur l’olivier

L’oiseau aux plumes ébouriffées

Chante sa chanson à l’unisson

Avec le vent dans les buissons.

Qui a essayé de retrouver

La clef qui a été jeté

Par-dessus la ligne d’horizon

Sans aucune gêne aucune raison.

I see the moon far away

Playing hide and seek until the morning

When the sun awakens

Sends the moon back to sleep.

And here on top of the olive tree

The bird with its feathers in disarray

Sing its song together

With the wind (blowing in the bushes).

Who tried to retrieve?

The key that was thrown away

Over the horizon line

Without a care … and no reason.

Very adorable. I had a good time reading it in French, translating as much I possibly could, and scrolling down to see exactly what the line meant. I reread it only in English, to get the idea of what the poem was saying, and it's BEAUTIFUL!! I kinda wish I knew what that cute little key was or what it stands for. Thanks SO much for entering this into my contest. Maybe tell a few friends about the contest? GREAT poem, and best of luck.
