Desert Rain

Desert Rain

A Poem by Umar Sulehri
"

yes, the name was inspired by Edward Maya's Desert Rain as well as one line of it, but it's just a piece of writing, not my best work, but still considered it worth sharing...

"
I miss you like a desert misses rain,
I thought I would move on and let time heal the pain,
But your diamond memories are imprinted on my mind,
The way you laugh, the way you smile,
The way you can read my mind,
I thought I would move on...
But you will always have my soul,
This holds me back...
And when the winds of emotion blow the dust of time away,
I miss you way too bad,
More than I ever had,
But you are my rain,
And you heal all my pain.
And I miss you like a desert misses rain.

I like the metaphor of longing like a desert needing rain, especially since I'm from the desert and know what it's like to only get rain once maybe twice a year. Keep up the good work and welcome to writers cafe.
