My Muse

My Muse

A Poem by Alyssa Dufresne

My muse is a gentle woman.
She is patient with me – most times –
She perches in the Heavens
Like a guardian angel (if such things exist).

My muse kindly cares for me –––––
Makes me a “chosen one” –
And does her best to place me amongst The Greats.

But sometimes she is forceful
and beats upon my back;
My muse is a monsoon –––
The mandatory momentum to move me to higher ground.

And without incantation
She works wonders –
and gives me words, moments of history,
to record and create.

She'll keep those moments in my head until written.

A fire-haired mystic
With crystal-ice eyes
And dagger-like tongue
Whose slender figure
And mother-esque tone
Keep me marching forward.

And she wants what she wants
No more – no less
(Okay, so she's a little controlling)

And my Gem is

Envious of others' talent
Greedy, almost,
And Gluttonous.
She is so very Prideful of her superior intellect –––
Wrathful to those who keep her from her desires –
Not to mention Lustful – with a certain seductive lure –
Which makes her guilty of being absolutely Beautiful.

And my muse is irresistible –––––––––––
No matter how terrible she seems,
I love her passionately .

Because she gives me my words

And my muse is a gentle woman
and is patient with me – most times –
She kindly cares for me –
And she perches in the Heavens
As my guardian Angel.

Wonderful, so insightful. I see a glint of humor here, almost like you are playing with the notion of having an outside influence to blame your rough edges on,
'Envious of others' talent
Greedy, almost,
And Gluttonous.
She is so very Prideful of her superior intellect
Wrathful to those who keep her from her desires'
Well done.

You sent me this to read, and to offer a critique. I have no critique. This is just about right. The Muses are selfish, hungry, demanding, inspiring the fingers to tap out words that one didnt even know they had.

Your muse is an angel....keep her close. Mine's a butterfly....flitters by whenever it cares to...

And my muse is a gentle woman

She kindly cares for me
And she perches in the Heavens

Really lovely poem: very gentle, as if rolling off a gentle tide of thoughts and feelings. Well done for any age!

Wow...I love this poem! You are a positively wonderful writer...and at age 15!? I'm 24 and I can't write half as good as you. Keep up the good work. I can't imagine how much better you will be when you are my age :)
