Where

Where

A Poem by Calypso

Where I am and

where I’m going is

on two different planes of

reality.

Who I am and

who I want to be

will never meet.

And when the night comes

I’ll be broken, shattered

beyond repair.

I see the beautiful faces of angels

swim into my line of view.

Their silky voice

coaxed me to talk.

The only sound I hear

is the reverencing of

hymns sung in a church.

The candles burn

and I feel myself melt into the

shadows.

I'm curious about the use of a different font in the first stanza. Is the sound you're hearing - the hymns sung in a church- is that the silky voices of the angels? Or is it your own voice speaking?

It's a very dark, very thought-provoking poem. It's sad and depressing- to me, at least- no matter how low, no one ever beyond repair. It touched me.

This seems of someone lost and drowning, I think of drowning because the Angels are swimming into his line of view. It seems like this person is trying to return to his personal spiritual belief maybe as a way to bring his life back into focus after it has been shattered into two different directions. Interesting write and a good one.

This is a dark place....but I think when one gets comfortable with who they are, then the person they want to be falls in line cuz they are there. I felt myself falling as I read this, felt like an identity crisis with no underpinning to fall back on. Although sad...still great writing...loved it.

This seemed liek a poem of longign but also of acceptance. At the end you melt into the shadows and accept that. This was amazing.

I love this way ths flows and how your lines contrast with each other, the last stanza was so deep, reading it, I felt that feeling, the one where you know what your reading was written from someones soul? Yeah. That one. Great write. (:
