No Thing To Write

No Thing To Write

A Poem by unsavable_soul
"

I had nothing to write!!!

"
Where to start...
all these feelings coming from my heart.
I try to write but it seems so short is my sight.
These lines can't help me refine my thoughts.
First a word then another, soon they are flying out like birds.
Then I look and am shook...
by the lack of reason in my words that appear as treason.
The original thought that I sought for,
that I fought for betrayed by the way they lay on the page.
How to convey here the words I could not say.
How do I bring to life a thought, bring to life what in my mind is caught.
Crumple it up and start over, in my head the ticker reads game over.
I become distracted and my writing becomes reactive...
to   my   lack   of   direction.
So many words to choose, so many words to lose...
but which ones do I use.
And again it starts anew... maybe this time it won't be so askew.
In the end when I am finished, whether trash bin or send,

my writing remains my greatest friend.

This is how i deal with writers block, I write about writing. whether it's a short story about a guy who can't seem to write anything or this above when I can't write poetry. I find it easy as the subject is right in front of me. It helps me get the creative juices flowing again.

Excellent, glad you could relate.

language doesn't allow for one to properly describe their emotions or thoughts it's like trying to make the obscure concrete we can only get to a close proximity of what we want to express, your writers block cure is better than mine i just say f**k it and try another day but i think that's just a slackards approach haha i like this very much sir.

It's interesting and amusing to me to read how people cope with such a pademic disease. Usually with a good dose of vitamin C, and some good music, or a good story to inspire me...the flu bug in my pen goes away. I feel for those that have a chronic brain freeze....usually for those folks, it's just a lack of genetic creativity.

exactly!
It happens once in a while, if not all times... our brain gets short circuited and the words just wouldn't come. Sadly they exist, somewhere in that organ of tremendous oxygen consumption, yet the flow to which we anticipated becomes as you said "askew".
I find it interesting though to learn how you deal with your writers block... i on the other hand just send my brain into storming until literally it bleeds out words.
Good job on this poem, thanks for sharing.

We write to write. Sometimes to bring to life ideas that roll around in our head like marbles on the floorboard of an automobile and other times to make a point, an observation. Good work!

"So many words to choose, so many words to lose...

Beautiful line...
And the following line is the line I found very true -
"In the end when I am finished, whether trash bin or send,
my writing remains my greatest friend."
As always, nicely penned!
