My One And Only

My One And Only

A Poem by Tiffany S
"

A piece about my dream to one day find true love, and the great patience involved.

"
I just need someone to hold, cries my soul as its bound by the shackles of my discontentment
Someone to love me effortlessly, to cradle me as if I were the only woman in all of this beautiful city

I want to be the only one that matters, to be so much more than a curvaceous, doe eyed damsel
I want him to dedicate those slow, melodious love songs to me; to murmer sweet nothings into my ears by the shoreline
To take me for walks along that Magnificent Mile, to laugh with me over deep dish at Gino's until they close without a care in the world
To tell me what he loves about me, to clutch me to his chest in an embrace of humble solace when it's all just too much

To be proud of me when I succeed, recognizing all that it truly took for me to get there
To not only be selfless, but to lead me to be selfless for him so that he may share in the same unadulterated bliss
Because he will deserve it, I know that he will
He will be my comfort, my confidant in the midst of this city, this world full of merciless, though seemingly merciful  deception
And I will surely be one for him, a shoulder to lean on when he just can't take it, and be the one pushing him forward along the way, believing in him to no end

But we will be so much more; so much more than even that!
Our love will root from not a worldly savage lust, but a friendship undreampt of by most
A friendship stronger than either of us has ever had
A relationship rooting in a mutual love for Christ before each other, and a deep passion for who we are

As our love for one another and even more so our love of the Lord commands us, we will wait
No matter how trying our inner desires become, we will continue to stand strong and celibate as our will to fulfill the Lord's plan will be the strongest will of it all
And it will surely make our boundless love for another appear as though it were a grade school crush, as we mere mortals feel so undeserving of such an abounding and forgiving love

Without the Lord's will, we wouldn't be alive, let alone would we have ever met
For if He were to forget about us for even a second, our hearts would cease to beat
We must come together and be thankful that He gave us this time to live, this chance to exemplify exactly what He wants for us all
Only then shall this ruby ring of such a promise leave its resting place twined around my finger

We shall be one another's firsts, our firsts and onlies
We will each be beyond another's compare, our devotion only strengthening

"He doesn't exist," the world seethes at me. "You're expecting what simply cannot be."

But that's where they're wrong, as I know he is watching, waiting, maybe even writing for me at this very moment
No one can tell me that he isn't there
And I want nothing to do with their ideas of so called respectable men

No; I shall wait, in prudence and great patience, for my marvelous one and only.

There is no words in my dictionary I could use to discribe this because if I used them, it would be an insult. Really great!

You have achieved “bizarreness” in all its glory!

I didn’t understand what was happening much of the time but there were parts that I thought were very interesting.
