Into the Sea

A Poem of Love

By

Valormore De Plume

As the gentle rains falling from the heavens,

draw together in the mountains of desire,

filtering past the forests of uncertainty,

streaming across the continent of individuality,

flooding through the desert of aloneness,

inexorably hastening to the shoreline of anticipation,

to unite with the immensity of the sea of passion.

In this fashion within my heart,

inescapably my spirit is attracted to you.

I found this to be great. Not usually a fan of poems, but this was a smooth, desirable poem. Your words were glazed and smooth, and the description was the icing on the cake. Maybe a bit more description on some of it; I would like to read more. Great job.

I love your comment below the poem, I think if you could work those thoughts in, too, it would be great! I definitely like the ideas here, but I do have a suggestion: if you want this to really pack a punch, it needs to be more specific. Not necessarily wordier -- I know that brevity is of value in a poem -- but you use a lot of non-specific words (passion, anticipation, aloneness, individuality, etc) which tend to feel cliched because they are not descriptive. Instead of using "big" words like those, try exploring the 5-senses meanings behind them. How does passion taste? What is the texture of anticipation? How does aloneness sound? What does individuality look like?

The water we drink is as old as the atmosphere encircling the Earth. It rises from the salty brine of the oceans into the azure skies, forming clouds as it cools and coalesces into droplets of rain that fall on the mountain forests. Eventually the water returns to the sea. How many times have we wet our whistle with the same recycled waters? This is how the love, for my soul-mate, is refreshed in a continuous cycle, drawing us together with inevitable oneness of love.
