Hello Sadness

Hello Sadness

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

My closest friend sometimes.....

"
                                      Hello Sadness.
Why do I let you in sadness?
My always companion,
Never far from the surface,
I laugh now but know you are waiting,
To engulf me in your stifling embrace,
And pull me under choking my screams.
Where are you happiness?
I can still smell your perfume,
Fading away in the breeze,
This fleeting scent of nostalgia all that's left.
I can't keep you,
You are like sand slipping through my fingers,
Ahh there you are anger,
My fearless champion,
With your venomous words,
You flay my enemies,
You tear them limb from limb,
And leave me more wounded than they could ever be.
When I stand on the grave yard of my emotions,
Burying them as far down as I can,
Lovingly placing their tombstones,
And lying fresh flowers on their memory,
I'll stand alone falling to my knees ,
Again crippled by sadness my only true companion.

Cool. I think, I should`ve read this piece late night (when I was sad.. ummm.. not exactly.. lol). Nice poem, yea.. everybody passes through such a harsh time but with time, everything becomes happy and joyous and yeah, i`ve myself experienced it. You only have to look ov`r the brighter edge of life instead of being around the sadness. You know what, I hate such a feeling of being sad. After all, "Neon" is always happy.. and his sexy angels know it so do you. Ha ha ha ha! Well written! ;)

Hey Neon thank you for your always kind words that make me smile :-)
yes .. those days do come upon us don't they .. thank goodness they turn .. i like the conversational form you have taken .. self talk can be so demoralizing unless we make conscious effort to turn it around .. i especially like the verse about anger .. a warrior champion and self slayer as well ..

Hey Vid, I've been meaning to come and see you. These folks keep me busy reading poetry :) and I miss the ones who don't send me anything and I have to make up for it. Any who the title was so simple...like a song but it packs a lot of punch. As a matter of fact I started a video in my head to your words...well this is the path they delivered me. The line where you missed the smell of happiness is priceless, a prolific greeting to sadness.

Thank you so very much John :)
This is so true -- we have these facets of our emotions we hate, we love, but still we are not whole without them. Well done.

Thank you very much KK.Your words mean so much :)
indeed we all have those days. the personification of the emotions is so good that it summons pictures of sad, happy, angry faces in the mind of the reader. I only hope you'll write another one praising the elusive Happiness, instead.
you're very good at describing emotions, Vid. but when aren't you?
