Oblivion

Oblivion

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

Sometimes you just want to sink.

"
                                                                          Oblivion

My pain is my own,
Yet you stand there with your pity,
And "I know how you feel"
How could you? Why would you want to?
I wish to feel numb safe from this torment,
And you want to "understand this feeling"
I want to be appreciative and grateful,
For your kindness but I'm hurt,
And you don't understand,
And no, you have no inkling of my sorrow,
Leave me be,
Let me drown in nothingness.
And if you are my friend,
And you want to ease my pain,
You will meet me on the other side,
Where your kindness isn't like a thorn,
Digging deeper into my wound,
But a healing salve on my aching heart.

What a delight to return after a long hiatus (I was in a play) to read your world. I shall catch up reading your page in due time.
And, well, your ink speaks loud across the space - it tugs the heart right away. Always enjoyed reading you, dear Vidya ! Cheers my friend

Hello Ray so nice to see that you are better,Happy New Year and thank you :)
You make a very significant point in this poem Vidya. Our grief is ours alone and each loss and every sorrow is unique. So it hurts when people try to generalize it saying they 'understand'. Such kindness seems very painful and patronizing. No one could have put it better than you did in these great lines. Thanks for sharing.

Amen to this. The ignorance of people can be extremely hurtful, even if their intentions were unconsciously positive. Love it.

Thank you G your words as ever mean a lot :)
So very well said Vidya. Most just want to comfort but only add more pain to the injury. Just be there if we need you, offer a hand to help, not advice. I really enjoyed this today.

Hey Will.Thank you my friend :)
It is not possible to know exactly what someone else is feeling. A good friend will stand by to listen, to hug, to nod in agreement....and not offer any cliched advice. Sometimes kind euphemisms are not what we need to hear. Very well written, Vidya. Lydi**

Thank you very much sweet Lydi. You understand well :)
As the old adage goes "i know how you feel" but do they really of is it just a saying so they don't have to deal with ones pain.

Nicley written indeed:)
