Something About the Rain

Something About the Rain

A Poem by violetlotuss
"

This poem came out of me in 5 minutes.

"

There’s something about the rain
As it pounds against the walls
In the wee hours of the morning
When it wakes me.
I roll over slightly
And trace your lips with mine
As the drops play their soft lullaby
That puts me back to sleep.

There’s something about the rain
On a warm summer evening
That makes me want to run outside
And let it wash away the negativity
Not caring about the colorful rivers
Of dye from my clothes
Running down my arms,
How terrible my hair will look after
Or makeup running down my face.

There’s something about the rain
As it comes down in sheets
Individual drops
That each disappear into the sea
All a part of a much greater entity
Just like you and me.

There’s something about the rain
That reminds me its okay to cry,
That sometimes even Earth needs a release
And she lets go shamelessly
Leaving everything fresh and beautiful in her wake.
Rejuvination.

Theres something about the rain
That always reminds me
Nature is constant
Full of beautiful cycles
Things that never truly die
And if our love is just as natural
As a sunset
A moonrise
A hatching egg
A budding rose
Then it is here to stay.
